1-day itinerary for Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disneyland, where fantasies become reality.

If you are planning a visit to Disneyland, it is wise to plan in advance as the park is huge and there are a lot of experiences and rides to cover, which is almost impossible to cover in a single day.

This 1-day Tokyo Disneyland touring plan covers our ideal day in the park, with attractions ordered to minimize time in line and maximize efficiency.

Before we start with the itinerary, we need to understand the park and the sections, and you'll need to download the Disney resort app as well. That app is really helpful once you're inside the park. It'll show the wait times at each attraction, show a map of the whole park, and also help with the navigation.

Tokyo Disneyland, the Kingdom of Dreams and Magic, consists of seven themed lands, each offering fun attractions in line with its theme, as well as a variety of unique shops and restaurants.

Tokyo Disneyland is basically “Bizarro Magic Kingdom” and this applies to attractions too. If you only have a single day at TDL, your time is best spent doing original attractions that are unique to Tokyo Disneyland.

One final note before getting started is that you should consider staying at one of the Disney-branded hotels if your budget allows. Staying at the Disney hotels gives you the “Happy 15” perk, which is 15 minutes of early entry into the park.

Park Timings: 9 AM to 9 PM

Note: Please wear some comfortable shoes, as throughout the day, you may need to hop and jump into multiple themed lands.

Once you wake up on D-day, have breakfast, and then get started on your day,

The most important thing is arriving early – If you’re staying at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, plan to arrive at the Happy 15 entrance no less than 45 minutes before the official park opening. If you’re staying at a non-Disney hotel, you will want to arrive even earlier than that because the regular turnstile lines will be even longer than the Happy 15 line, and if you're late, then it'll take around 45 minutes just to get entry into the park.

On busy days, we try to arrive an hour before the park opens. Even if you get there that early, you’ll still find other people in line in front of you. If you’re eligible for Happy 15, your first destination is easy: The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. This is the blockbuster new trackless dark ride inside Beast’s Castle in Fantasyland that seats guests in gigantic tea cups that dance in rhythm to the music from Beauty and the Beast while showcasing scenes depicting the story of the classic Disney animated film.

Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast also sells Disney Premier Access, which is essentially a paid replacement for FastPass. If this Beauty and the Beast ride is incredibly important to you, consider buying it. (It’s also included via standby in this itinerary.)

If you’re not eligible for Happy 15, you should save Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast until later in the day. The vast majority of the early-arriving crowd heads there first, and you’ll be behind all of them. You’ll be wasting valuable time stuck in line behind thousands of other people while wait times are low elsewhere. The wait time for Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast is around 180 minutes within 30 minutes of the park opening.

Consequently, our strategy is to navigate the park in a clockwise fashion, and first thing in the morning, run to Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek (use the shortcut through World Bazaar into Tomorrowland on the right) and do that first.

Alternatively, you can do some hopping at the park and proceed directly to Pooh’s Hunny Hunt in Fantasyland and do that first. With that in mind, there are basically two options for starting the day:

Itinerary 1:

  1. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt
  2. Haunted Mansion
  3. Splash Mountain
  4. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  5. Pirates of the Caribbean
  6. Monsters, Inc. Ride and Go Seek!
  7. Space Mountain
  8. Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters
  9. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
  10. Enchanted tale of Beauty and the Beast

Itinerary 2:

  1. Monsters Inc. Ride & Go Seek
  2. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
  3. Space Mountain
  4. Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters
  5. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt
  6. Haunted Mansion
  7. Splash Mountain
  8. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  9. Pirates of the Caribbean
  10. Enchanted tale of Beauty and the Beast
As suggested earlier, you can opt for Disney Premier Access for Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. Throughout the day, the wait time for the ride is around 120 minutes. It can save you a lot of time.

Parades and shows at the park:

Tokyo Disneyland also hosts some parades and shows.

Some of the most popular ones are listed below,
  1. Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights (Parade), Schedule: 7 PM
  2. Disney Harmony in Color (Parade), Schedule: 1 PM
  3. Sky Full of Colors (Fireworks), Schedule: 8:30 PM
Please check the official website for the latest information on these parades and shows. Please also make sure that there aren't any rest days for these parades before planning for the Disneyland trip.

There are a lot of celebrity meeting experiences as well. So, please check the timings in advance for the ones you're interested in.
